Organize!

I am going to show you how I organize my coupons and inserts. Do whatever works best for you as what I do may not work for you.

There are usually two different types of couponers out there: those who clip and keep them in a binder and those who will keep an accordian of inserts on a month-to-month basis.

I do both!

The reason I do both is because I am not an "extreme" couponer. I will clip what I know I can get for a good deal; things that I get on a normal basis. I will save the inserts in case I discover through match-ups I find on the internet or from circulars that I can make money or get things for free or near-free.

If I can get it for free, why not?!? I don't have a huge stockpile. My supplies are kept mostly in my kitchen cabinets and one extra closet. I don't have the space to store a lot of things since we had to downsize our home after the tornado in April.

I keep a hardback binder, but you can have a soft, zip-up kind if that's your preference. I may change over one day if I need more space. Here is my binder:

As you can see I have the baseball card holders that I use to keep my clipped coupons in. They have tabs on each page to organize them according to sections: canned food, drinks, condiments, cold items, etc.

In the front of my binder, when you first open it, I have a pencil holder on top of the coupons to store the coupons I will be using for each shopping trip. It helps VERY much to be this organized to ensure that you receive all of your savings and to reduce time at the store and register.

Attached to the inside of my binder is a pouch pack where I keep store coupons for like restaurants or places like Walgreens, etc. I will also put my shopping list/e-coupon list from Bi-Lo in here.

This pouch is detachable so I can remove it if I need to for any reason. I simply used self-stick velcro to do this.

This is how I keep my binder. I had the binder laying around, but had bought it at Walmart. I purchased the labels and baseball card holders at Staples. The pouch I bought at Target. All of them were either bought on sale or with coupons. :)

This is my filing cabinet. It was once my hubby's for his business, but I have since converted it for my inserts. I file my inserts by each month so that I can easily find them whenever I find a matchup. I know it seems like a lot to keep, but it's worth it when you start making money or get items for free!!
